Dear Grand Vacations,

Our vacation through Grand Vacations was absolutely fabulous! More than I expected...and definitely worth the trip. The Grand Mayan Resort was unbelievable. The accommodations were spacious. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the resort itself was breath-taking. Need I say more! It was probably the most peaceful and relaxing vacation I have ever had. My immediate family (husband, sons, daughter and significant others) joined us for the trip. Once we arrived, we were met by local transportation that took us to the resort where we were checked in the main building. Check-in was a breeze. The resort is a cashless facility, which was also convenient.

Our rooms (including the two bedroom apartment!) were in “Building 1”, so we were in probably the best building available in the resort (they had about twelve buildings in that property). The pools were beautiful. They cascaded throughout the property. There were pool bars, fountains, sun lounges in the pools themselves as well as shaded pool areas just to sit and relax. If you wanted a quiet drink, join a game of volleyball or if you wanted to sun yourself in the pool, you could do all four and feel refreshed. The way the pools are designed there were always chairs poolside and you always felt as if you were in a private club. We were told that they had close to 70% occupancy, you just never felt it.

The resort also had a convenience store that included a grocery, pharmacy, and merchandise (clothing, jewelry, souvenirs). Since the two bedrooms had kitchens, this was great if you wanted to eat in. They also had room service, so if you wanted to eat in the apartment, you could and the food was great. There were also two high end restaurants at the resort. We went to both and the food was great. As matter of fact the lobster dinner that we had at the Italian restaurant was probably the best lobster I have ever had. The concierge was extremely helpful and we did go to several tours (Tulum/Xel-ha and Puerto Morales). They also had an onsite Mexican Dinner Revue at the resort that put on a great show.

We could have spent another week there since we didn’t get a chance to visit Playa del Carmen or some of the other local sites. And of course, I wouldn’t have minded sitting out at the pool again. Thank you so much for all your help. It was one of the best trips ever!
